Pictures and video used to illustrate the stories show that the suicides at France Telecom and at Foxconn in China were caused when both companies failed to provide effective Cubicle Level Protection for workers who use full mental investment, concentration.

Subliminal Distraction, named for the normal feature of everyone's physiology of sight, explained in first semester psychology under peripheral vision reflexes, was discovered to cause mental breaks for office workers in 1964. Engineers and designers stopped that problem with the office cubicle by 1968.

The U. S. Air Force has agreed to investigate this as the cause of service member suicides. (I have a letter from the Pentagon.)

There is circumstantial evidence that this is the long sought cause of college suicides. Students create the "special circumstances" for Subliminal Distraction exposure when they study or use a computer where there is repeating detectable movement in peripheral vision.

When they learn to ignore distracting movement nearby, that allows repeating subliminal failed attempts to execute the vision startle reflex, defined as a subliminal distraction.

I have written both Foxconn in China and France Telecom as well as French government ministers who would supervise labor and mental health problems. There has been no response. -- If you did not sit in the psychology lecture that explains this it sounds like impossible science fiction nonsense.

Suicides at La Poste and Renault in France would have this same causation.

Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible to prove a causal relationship between workplace stress and suicide. While some factors may increase the likelihood of self-harm, a true cause-and-effect relationship has never been reliably established.
